Getting to Know Your Client

While preparing your content this month, I was reading through October’s International Holidays and was struck by today’s day: Get to Know Your Customers Day. In honor of this, I’ve decided to share a couple steps (Data and Communication) to enhance your ability to know your audience better. 

Ways in which to identify a specific target market is something marketing professionals are constantly discussing. The need to know who it is for and how to best portray that message is essential. Otherwise we risk getting lost in a sea of never ending content. 

Knowing who and what your target is will allow for the offering of more specialized products and services and will produce tangible results that can be measured through things like increased engagement and improved lead generation along with improved overall brand sentiment and awareness.

Step 1 | Data 

You knew this was coming, right? We live in a world where data is the most valuable resource - in fact, according to The Economist, data is more valuable than oil. 

Take a look at your reports.  Spend time looking into demographics. Where is your audience located? What is the age range? What device are they using the most? 

Look at the most visited pages. Who is the current digital audience? And does this match up with who utilizes your services or products?

Step 2 | Communication 

Communication is an art form, but a simple one at that. Just be yourself, be true to yourself, true to your brand, be genuine, do right by yourself and others, and people will listen. More importantly, the right people listen.
