Love for the Algorithm
How many Instagram and/or TikTok purchases did you make for Christmas gifts this year? Are they 50%+ of your unique finds for friends and family? Many of us can easily say that we use Social Media as our shopping tool. Can ads be annoying? Sure. But…
How convenient is it to walk down a “mall” of stores specifically tailored to you?
The algorithm works with us because it has been designed to recognize patterns in data and respond accordingly. It is able to identify correlations in data that we may not be able to detect and use this information to make predictions and recommendations. This helps make more informed decisions and discover new opportunities. I know that when I am looking for a specific game for my kids and then 10 different options come up for me the next day…I am grateful for the algorithm doing the hard work.
And obviously this benefits not only the customer but the business owner: small shops, the niche creators and thinkers.
This begins with the framework of a website. The user needs to be able to easily find what they are looking for and take action. Google wants to see their clients, those searching, get what they want. Website framework, set up correctly, builds a positive relationship with Google one person at a time. And this organically grows attention to a particular website, social outlet, or product.
The algorithm does not care if you are Target or if you are shipping out of your garage. So, as you shop this season, think both online and in-person.
Be authentic, and be seen.
Happy Holidays,
A
